Ben West was called as our pastor in August 2008. Ben is a native of Kentucky and grew up in Union City, Tennessee. He is a recent graduate of Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, Tennessee and also an alumnus of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.  He is an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Ben has served in ministry, church leadership, and community volunteering in a variety of ways. He was first active as a lay leader and board member at New Life Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. There, he also worked with the church’s evangelistic endeavors and with its visitation ministry (2002-2005). During divinity school, he served one year as a ministerial intern at Eastwood Christian Church in East Nashville and also a year as a part-time student chaplain at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He also led Nashville’s Cub Scout Pack #1548 as Cubmaster from 2006-2008. Ben’s chief interests in the life and work of the church include Christian spiritual formation and education and a growing interest in men’s ministries. Ben is also an avid amateur genealogist and enjoys reading history and fiction, as well as taking hiking trips.  Most recently, Ben began service as a chaplain for the Black Warrior Council, Boy Scouts of America, headquartered in Tuscaloosa.
